Canyon before the lake flood
There are numerous pictures taken of the canyons before the water line came up. Bill Holloman did his best to fight the flooding of the lake but was defeated by progress...all the beaches, recreational areas and boat rams he had installed were all taken under water. In a brief paragraph…
Cedar Shores Estates was developed in the late 1950’s, and many homes went up immediately and during the early 1960’s. This was a master planned community for lakeside vacationing at Lake Whitney, Texas. The owner and developer was Bill Holloman. At that time the water level was many feet lower, allowing for quite an infrastructure of roads and amenities in the original design of the community. The community had over 11 miles of roads that went all the way over and all around Girl Scout Island, included sandy beaches, picnic areas and playgrounds. Many people enjoyed what was a luxurious lake life with a second vacation home back in those days. It was a well planned and kept community. These pictures show what it was like!
